The Spookiest of Days is Approaching

Happy Halloween

It's almost the spookiest time of the year! Hopefully this year is a real hoot for you and your family, including your beloved pets! So, let's talk about how to enjoy your day and keep your four legged friends safe this Halloween.

1. Be on the lookout for foot and vehicle traffic. People will be looking for their kids, not your pets, so keep them securely inside in your home.

2. Keep candy in a place your pet can't access. Candy is dangerous for pets and pets won't eat just the contents, they will also eat the wrappers, too. If this happens, your pet could suffer from chocolate poising or a blockage, neither of which you or they want to happen and both of which can be fatal.

3. Pet costumes can be the cutest, but don't put your pet in anything they can accidentally be caught in or choke themselves in. Some pets may be scared by costumes and immediately try to back out or remove their arms. This can be dangerous for them as they may become entangled and panic. If your pet is in a costume be sure to keep an eye on them the entire time.

4. Remember your pet is an animal and if they are scared they may bite or show aggressive behavior. Keeping them inside and away from people they are not familiar with is best practice.

Finally, aside from keeping your pet safe, be sure to give them the love and attention they may need on this potentially stressful day.
